Naza-Tree Week
(If you live in another area of the world when trees are best planted at other times this week can be celebrated at a later time!)
The week of November 26th-Dec 3rd has been set aside to call on us as the people of God to hold service for the planting of trees. As an expression of worship to the God of all creation and in remembrance of our calling as humanity placed here to serve and keep this garden we call home, we plant trees. Trees, which beckon us to remember our origins in Genesis to our fulfillment in God's kingdom in Revelation! We also gather together to plant trees in an act of thanksgiving, and recognize it as in direct opposition to a time known by many as the most consumeristic week of the year, the week following "Black-Friday."
How might we, as the people of God, in this season, live into a better story?
In light of all the broken places in creation today, there is almost no better action to take for healing our planet, than planting a tree! Planting a tree becomes for us as the church, an act of hope, in the world. We receive with joy the calling to care for creation as we plant trees and so in our own co-creating capacity, breathe life into a world gasping for air.
Below you'll find a downloadable Liturgy to use for planting trees with your congregation or community.
Instructions on the best ways to plant trees.
And some further information.
If you choose to participate in Naza-Tree Week we would love to see and hear from you! Send us a message and/or use #NazaTreeWeek
